Dark Chocolate Could Increase the Vision Sharpness
A research showed that a dark chocolate can increase the sharpness of sight in low contrast condition.
It is acknowledged in a research result in United Kingdom that respondents’ sight increasing seventeen percent in low light contrast condition after they consumed dark chocolate compared to those who consumed white chocolate. Those participants showed better brain function as the result.
Flavonoid in the dark chocolate is to increase blood circulation in the body, including the eyes. David Field, a lecturer of University of Reading, UK who had done this research said that retina needed more energy but often loses its blood supply. Flavonoid in the chocolate would increase blood vessel peripheral to the eyes part, so that the sight has better function.
Field and his team tested the participants two hours after they consumed dark chocolate bar. However, according to him, actually the effect of flavonoid had already been felt an hour after being consumed.
Field had uncertain about the number of the chocolate that must be consumed yet. In his research, he used chocolate bar that contained 773 milligrams chocolate flavonoid. Unfortunately, flavonoid also can be found in tea, fruits and vegetables. However, according to Field, those had not been acknowledged whether the effect would be the same as flavonoid in chocolate.
So, it is good to consume dark chocolate in regular amount, but not too much, chocolate could gain the weight and sugar in blood. But the right amount of consuming chocolate could increase human vision sharpness, but the scientists did not discover the exact amount yet. Flavonoid in chocolate is the compound that could increase human’s vision sharpness.
